GUWAHATI: An inter-ministerial team from is bound for Assam to assess the damage caused by floods and landslides in the state.

According to ASDMA (Assam State Disaster Management Authority) sources, the Central team will arrive in Guwahati on May 26. They will visit Cachar, Dima Hasao, Darrang, Nagaon and Hojai districts and assess the damage caused by floods and landslides.

According to ASDMA sources, Ravinesh Kumar of the NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority) under the MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) will lead the Central team. Top State Government officials will accompany the Central team during the visit to the flood and landslide-affected districts.

Usually, Central teams come to the state to assess flood damage long after floods ravaging the state. However, it is an exception this year that a Central team will assess the flood and landslide damage in Assam when the state is still reeling under the deluge.
